Promoting Healthy Lifestyles and Increasing Access to Healthcare in the Rio Grande Valley
The Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation is dedicated to investing in and supporting initiatives that enhance the health and well-being of the community in the Rio Grande Valley. Through partnerships, medical education, research, and programs, we strive to improve the quality of life for residents in Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, and Willacy counties.
Focus Areas
It is The Legacy Foundation’s #1 strategic priority to find programs that will educate those in our community about weight management and the causes of Diabetes.
The Legacy Foundation has a broad focus on healthy lifestyle programs that can enhance the health and quality of life for South Texans.
The Legacy Foundation will actively seek to fund programs that increase the number of people covered by health insurance and provide solutions to knock down existing barriers to healthcare.
The Legacy Foundation will consider funding proposals from organizations that administer services through licensed behavioral health providers and that address the screening and treatment of youth and adults.
The Legacy Foundation will fund programs that improve access to healthcare services and improve the quality of life for older adults.
The Legacy Foundation will consider funding requests for programs that seek to increase the number of people receiving dental care in our area.

How Does It Work?
Submit Letter of Intent
A Letter of Intent is required for requests greater than $50,000. The LOI process opens February 15th and August 15th every year. and has a deadline of March 20th and September 20th.
Submit Full Application
Program staff will review the LOI and respond with a declination or invitation for a full proposal within one month. If a full proposal is requested, you will be provided a code to proceed to the online application stage.
Grants Awarded
After the application process ends all applicants are informed of our decision. Applicants that got approved will receive a grant agreement so the grant can be implemented.
